There are a few degenerates here. Jax needs to pick up the monitor power and get rid of dogs...I mean, the scumbags that are making it no fun except for them. They know who they are. Downvote here, it's being recorded.

I'm going to be pruning a lot of the bad apples here over the next few days as I sift through logs looking for people who have abused their powers.

If you've been bad, save me the time and say what you've done and ask for forgiveness from the community here.

Edit: On that note, I've just changed things. You can no longer edit anyone whose user level is higher than 5.

And it's this kind of inflammatory thread with an OP loaded with insulting language that is not the least of the problem.

Ironic all considered

Just one example of the abuse. I'm sorry but when someone starts a thread like this and acts like you do Bornbad, it's not only highly surprising but somewhat hypocritical.

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

I, for one, welcome both of these changes, Jax. I would have one more suggestion, though. Get rid of the upvote/downvotes for links over the age of 2 months or so. Usually the mass-downvotes come from the older posts people have made. That way they can't be detected.

Aside from that, Why is everyone bickering so much lately? Sure, everyone has disagreements. Doggy and I disagree on quite a few things. We also get into heated arguments. But I wouldn't say that we get into the bickering that he posted above. Not calling anyone out, but does anyone have a clue as to why things have seemed so...divisive lately?

Update 3: Links / Photos / Videos more than 30 days old no longer have upvotes and downvotes on them.

Edit history as well.

We all know that I edited a post. In case you missed it, but I can't see how, you can read all about it here.

I still feel I was right to do so but a few members seem to have lost sight of the fact that Tgk claims it was edited before I got there and took it out. No one seems to worried about the first edit. I'm sure because it was me is why Bornbad contacted you about it.
So there is my confession.

If you will look at the link Doggy has there, you will see what I have to put up with often. I don't know if others do or not.
Will those kind of comments be reviewed? I guess there is no way to do that, and that's a shame, there are plenty.

I would also like to know if you have access to PM's. I'm afraid you probably don't. If you did, then you could see the real depth of abuse of power, of threats, and worse.
I haven't reported these because unlike BB, I believe in taking care of it myself, I don't go running for help. But if you like, I can hit that 'report to mod' button from now on.

I think the new edit policy is a good one. Also the 30 day limit, it's really needed in the news section.

EDIT:
Actually DL put in the wrong post, it should be this one:

Bingo, I still appreciate you editing it as you did, even if other people don't. Even though we can't fix what happened, I think you probably saved him from even more downvotes, regardless of how the original post was.

Am I the only one to see the sad irony behind this?

On 9/11 2001, a doubtlessly tragic, unique event caused by a handful of terrorists cleared the path for ever-increasing and ongoing cuts into the rights and freedoms of not only US-American citizens, but the entire Western world, and a seemingly endless chain of conflicts in the Middle East.
On 9/11 2009, a doubtlessly tasteless, unique comment in a 9/11/2001 memorial thread on Plime posted/edited by a single m-

Oh, never mind, you wouldn't find this funny anyway.

Edit: Oh, by the way, the only reason for me not downvoting this thread as the latest one in a never-ending series of weekly passive-aggressive (or plainly aggressive) one-liners by the same member is the changes announced in here by Jax. I wouldn't want to delete those.

I have access to EVERYTHING. Everything you see on Plime is stored in a database which I have complete access to. It doesn't mean I enjoy looking at people's private PMs.

From an ethical standpoint I refuse to do so unless something is flagged. I gave the community the power to self-moderate so I wouldn't have to.

From a time / economic standpoint, I refuse to babysit Plime by monitoring it. You're all adults and I don't want to have to.

Bingo, thank you for your confession. Please don't edit anyone's posts anymore for disagreeing with the content, no matter how tacky.

Either way, it's mostly a moot issue now, since I've removed that power from all users above 5 going forwards though I'd still expect you to treat new users with that same respect and only edit them if there is something malicious (i.e. a virus link) in their post or it's obvious spam.

You know, with all the power around here, all the things we can could do to each others posts, editing, clearing out, downvoting and such I think we do pretty well.
Plime runs very smooth, considering how it could be.

In Bingo's defence (not that she needs it but) some time ago a user edited out some comments by another user and I raised the point that this wasn't acceptable whatever had been written.

The vast majority told me I was wrong and that inflammatory comments can and should be edited.

The precedent was set and it's this precedent that Bingo followed.

Does that mean you can get at all those dirty PM's I sent to DEP...er I mean myself?

If so, can you resend them to me? DEP deleted them and I want to use some of that stuff elsewhere.

I'm still of the opinion that TGK's comment deserved to be edited, and that Bingo was right to do so. I also don't believe him when he said that someone edited his post and put that in. Throughout all of this, I just wanted TGK to confess to lying to the community, as I believe he should.

Edit: I also dv'ed some things on TGK's first page of submitted stuff after he asked to have his account deleted (He asked multiple times).
