There Be Giants: The Biggest Dogs in The World
There Be Giants: The Biggest Dogs in The World
Let’s face it, some people like their pets big! If you are looking for a large dog, there are a number of ‘giant’ breeds. Be careful, though - you should only consider these breeds if you have lots of space, lots of time and a good deal of money. The Real Owner takes a look at the some of the giants of the canine world. picked by AutumnLotus 7 months ago

If I had the space and the time I'd have a newfoundland.

And I would have a Great Dane. I love them. They are the biggest, cuddliest dogs ever and so fun to hug whilst standing up. :)

Sure would hate to have to pick up after one of those. Chihuahuas are much easier.

Love the big breeds. Not one of the largest, but the Greater Swiss Mountain is likely my next dog. I adore the mastiffs, though. There's an English mastiff here on base, and he is the sweetest pup. Always happy, loves everyone, could break your foot if he flopped over on it. :)

I love Irish WolfHounds... but like Pock, I neither have the space or the time...

Growing up, my family did have a St. Bernard...

A friend of mine had a great dane. He was more like a small horse than a dog. He weighed 170 pounds. And he thought he could fit in your pocket. He was very obedient, but he also thought he was a lap dog.

I had a friend in school who's family raised great danes for show dogs and as a breeder. Having 6 of them running around the house at any given time was pretty funny never knew when you would be run over :)

I used to have a full size Collie and a samoyed but there not large size like a Great Dane :)

I too, wish I had the space and time for a Newfie, but most likely when I finally get a place of my own I will get a mid sized mutt from a shelter, like I had growing up.

I almost got a great dane. His name was Joe. He was so sweet. His owner couldn't spend a lot of time with him... kept him staked in the yard. I offered to trade him a table for the dog. He really considered (for Joe's sake) doing it, but couldn't. Sad. I loved him.
