Religious Scholars to Discuss ‘Flying Spaghetti Monster’
Religious Scholars to Discuss ‘Flying Spaghetti Monster’
They’ll be talking about a satirical pseudo-deity called the Flying Spaghetti Monster, whose growing pop-culture fame gets laughs but also raises serious questions about the essence of religion. picked by kissmenow 2 years ago

I have to say, school is supposed to teach kids.

Teaching a belief as a fact makes no sense. However, teaching kids about different beliefs, makes perfect sense. The more kids know the better they understand the world we live in.

I want to go to the pastafarian church we can use all our tax breaks to buy cool tvs and watch football and hang out and build nice playgrounds for the children and such. I dislike religion except for the social aspect sometimes I wish i could be a part of something like a religion but not one at all.

This is when you know religion is going too far. When they have to sit down and discuss a pseudo-religion. To be tehcnichal, every religion is made up. God(s,Uda, Buddha, Xenu) did not come down from on high and say hey, this is religion. If people were to just step back for a moment and realize that all you need to do in life is live well and accomplish what you feel you need to, then this world would be a much better place!

I got upvoted here today and it made me read this again and gave me another thought worth sharing:

Who decided that the belief of the gods of the ancient egyptians, romans, and greeks is mythology? As far as I can tell they honestly believed that those gods all existed.

Is the fact that no one worships them now the reason that they are dismissed as myths?

No. Modern religion told us. They forced people to accept that Zeus and Odin and Ra and Jupiter were just made up.

Not buying that? Then maybe science told us. But if science told us that Zeus is a myth, then why are Christ's dad, and Allah, and Vishnu not refered to as a myth in a school setting? The same evidence supports all religion. There is none.

Buddha is not a god, prophet of god nor a idol that is worshipped. Buddha was a man. His philosophy is what Buddhism is based on. Kindly never lump Buddha with Xenu, or God.

I know this was three months agao, but still.

I follow Pastafarianism as an interest, not a religion.
It's humorous to see it be discussed as one though, seeing how the whole thing was started to show people how rediculous Intelligent Design was.

Saying that the world had to be "helped along" by an all powerfull being is truly stupid. Maybe it happened, I don't claim to have the answers.

That's where FSMism comes in. Saying that life could be created by anything, even a Fying Spaghetti Monster. Beer volcanoes and stripper factories were added later as an afterthought i suppose. =)
